Accounting Manager/Controller

Position Purpose
Oversee and direct activities of the accounting department and staff. Ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Manage and oversee the financial, accounting and bookkeeping roles of the credit union that includes AP, AR, budgets, collections, GL, investments, financial analysis, financial reporting, taxes and support staff
  • Create, implement and evaluate policies and procedures to represent the accounting department.
  • Oversee reporting and analyzing of credit union finances and transactions to regulatory authorities and to the board
  • Directly work with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits
  • Responsible for financial reporting, cash management and forecasting reports on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to senior management and board of directors
  • Assist with determining appropriate deposit and loan rates
  • Identify and communicate areas of financial improvement, potential changes in procedures and services. Keep staff up to date on current trends and general financial information relevant to the credit union
  • Responsible for assisting with lease negotiations and major purchasing decisions for capital asset expenditures
  • Write, review and distribute financial policy and procedure statements to ensure credit union stays within regulatory and policy compliance
  • File NCUA 5300 call report each quarter 
  • Two-year degree in accounting related field
  • 5+ years of banking/financial/accounting experience
  • Call report (5300 NCUA)
  • Asset liability management experience
  • Degree or experience can be substituted
