Switching from Visa to MasterCard


Why are we switching?

When we had to make the decision; we looked at the cost/benefit to our members (after all, you are why we are here). There are some outstanding features and we felt with the trend of people wanting to control their own account, this was the way to go. We believe we'll have an outstanding product that people will love. Many will also like the extra layer of security that this affords us.

VISA was no longer supporting our credit relationship with them and forced us to either make a financially taxing enhancement with them or look elsewhere for our credit card relationship. MasterCard also offered Mobile Wallet included in our conversion which is something members have been asking for.

When will I get my card?

You can expect to receive your new card around June 5.

What’s different?

Price protection: Purchases made on your card will be covered for price protection for 60 days after the purchase and claims can be made up to 180 days.

ID Theft resolution services: Provides you with access to a number of Identity Theft resolution services, should you believe you are a victim of ID Theft. Contact 1-800-MasterCard for more information.

Extended warranty (MC Smart Shopper Benefits): Doubles the coverage period of the original manufacturer’s warranty up to a maximum of 12 months on most items purchased with a MasterCard.

How long can I use my VISA for?

Your VISA will remain active until June 23rd. After this date you will no longer be able to use your VISA credit card.

Can we stick with VISA?

No, we had to phase out of the VISA credit card. Mastercard offered several outstanding services that we could not offer with the VISA program.
